Beginners Brass ensemble is tailored to teaching students and staff alike how to play a brass instruments. From cornets to trombones, to teaching how to read music, we create a fun and relaxed atmosphere for people who just want to have fun and play music. And the best part is, it’s free! We provide the instruments and music, just bring plenty of enthusiasm!
We meet once a week as a group to build ensemble work and confidence in a completely relaxed environment. As well as this, experienced members of the society provide one-on-one mentoring sessions with beginners to help them improve.
We also have an Intermediates Brass ensemble, for members who have progressed through Beginners Brass and are looking for a new challenge. This is also the perfect opportunity for anyone who is coming back to brass playing and wants the chance to brush off the cobwebs before joining Main Band.
Outside of playing, there are a number of social opportunities with the band. We wouldn’t be a university society without traditional socials such as bar crawls and nights out, but there are a wide range of ‘sober socials’ throughout the year such as curries (at the best curry house in the world) and the infamous Pudding Social. With such a varied social calendar, there is guaranteed to be something for everybody.
Beginners Brass rehearses on Wednesdays from 3 – 4pm, with Intermediates from 4 – 5pm. Both ensembles practice in the Music Centre within Warwick Arts Centre. If you would like to find out more about Beginners and Intermediates Brass, contact us now.
